Vandaag, 10 september 2007, is het de internationale

"dag voor zelfdodingspreventie".

De cijfers zijn hard: dagelijks proberen wereldwijd 60 000 mensen een eind te maken aan hun leven.

3 000 zelfdodingen ervan zijn effectief, d.w.z. om de 30 seconden valt er 1 slachtoffer.

Deze cijfers werden vandaag meegedeeld door de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO).

De laatse 50 jaar is dat aantal met 60% gestegen: dat is verschrikkelijk hartverscheurend veeel! Zelfmoord is wereldwijd de belangrijkste doodsoorzaak in de leeftijdscategorie tussen 15 en 34 jaar. In Belgie is het de voornaamste doodsoorzaak bij twintigers en dertigers.

Als ik je nu echt superunhappy en down heb gemaakt, kan je mss ff nadenke hoe we zulke mense uit de probleme kunne helpen. Het is tenslotte dag voor zelfdodingsPREVENTIE. Voorkomen is dus the big message.

PS er bestaan alvast van die luistertelefonen (teleonthaal...) waar je vrijwillig kan worden opgeleid om mensen in problemen telefonisch raad te geven bij zo'n hulplijn... Voor wie dit wil doen, kan je altijd informeren of researchen on net. Be a good person !
